Stability of lower limit of air pressure in abandoned coal mine roadways during long-term CAES

Power supply instability in the grid has been exacerbated by rapid development of new energy generation methods. Notably, large-scale storage is most practical solution to this problem. Meanwhile, China, an effective method reusing increasing number abandoned coal mines urgently required. Accordingly, building compressed air (CAES) plants along roadways can serve as a viable while repurposing these mines. This study examined effect lower limit pressure (LLAP) on stability mine CAES applications considering ongoing pilot Chongqing, China. The findings indicate that LLAP positive correlation with roadway provided frequency injection/extraction and upper are constant. Over 10 years operation, higher corresponds less overall deformation top slab subsidence, smaller plastic zone volume. Furthermore, first main principle stress also decreases increases. According paper, for actual operation should be adjusted upwards appropriate, which help improve geological roadways.
